With 25+ years of experience in the privacy and legal industries, and parents to a total of five children under the age of 10 between them, GarWu Publications, LLC was founded in 2024 by two passionate women writers and privacy professionals, Alea Garbanati and Lauren Wu. Alea and Lauren strive to tell the best stories while empowering parents to teach themselves and their children about privacy. By weaving allegories about data into classic stories, the authors hope to enable younger readers to better understand the privacy lesson. At the conclusion of each story is an explanation about the privacy concept, what parents and children should know, and helpful tips and tricks to help keep your data safe and secure online.

She is a passionate privacy, regulatory, and compliance attorney, and proud enabler of ethical data stewardship to advance health innovation with extensive privacy experience. Lauren is an alumna of the University of Southern California (Fight on, Trojans!) and Northwestern University School of Law (Go Wildcats!). A former ballerina and USC football recruiter, Lauren enjoys cooking, wine, travel, gardening, and spending time with her husband and three beautiful and courageous daughters (one of whom could say "GDPR" before the age of 2).
